The GV70 has been good for Genesis, both a strong seller for Hyundai’s luxury car brand and a compelling enough vehicle to win MotorTrend’s 2022 SUV of the Year award. For 2026, Genesis resets its compact crossover, changing up styling and adding a bunch of new standard and available technologies. Luxury compact SUV rivals include the BMW X3, Lexus NX, and Audi Q5.

Performance and MPGs
Last year’s GV70 powertrains return on the redesigned 2026 model. Base configurations feature a 300-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that returns fuel economy of 19-22/26-28 mpg city/highway on the 2025 model. Every 2026 GV70 is AWD, and gas models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Genesis also offers a more powerful 3.5-liter turbo V-6. This engine develops 375 hp. Last year’s GV70 with this powertrain saw fuel economy of 18/24 mpg.
GV70 Electric Powertrain Updates
An easier-to-use charge port is a big thrust of this year’s update for the electric model. The vehicle’s electrical outlet door is now powered and heated and features new, more conspicuous lighting. Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port is newly standard on the 2026 GV70 Electric, as well, Genesis saying the addition will more than double the size of the charging network available to GV70 Electric users. Finally, the 2026 model scores a bigger 84-kWh battery that should improve range.
Tech to Make the Drive Easier
Genesis updates the GV70’s driver assist suite with steering wheel Hands-On Detection, enhanced lane centering, and improved remote parking that can now work in diagonal parking spots. Expect standard features including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic headlights with automatic high-beams to return as well.
To inject more comfort and stability into the GV70’s ride, Genesis introduces its Highway Body Motion Control. This suspension enhancement is said to manage front and rear damping forces during acceleration or deceleration. Used in conjunction with the GV70’s existing front camera and adaptive suspension, the system is expected to unlock greater levels of ride smoothness.
When and How Much?
The 2026 Genesis GV70 and GV70 Electric land at North American dealers in the first half of 2025. Official pricing will be announced closer to on-sale date, but you can bet there will be an increase given this year’s model is a redesign. Look for the gas 2026 GV70 base trim to start above $50,000 and the top internal combustion model to begin closer to $65,000. Pricing for the 2026 GV70 Electric is anticipated to start around $72,500.
